Rosanna Verde - Coordinator

Rosanna Verde is full professor of Statistics at the Department of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Campania 'Luigi Vanvitelli'. She is coordinator of the BSc course in Data Analytics and of the MSc course in Data Science. Her main fields of research are: Multivariate data analysis, knowledge extraction from complex data, classification, large-scale data mining, data stream analysis, functional data analysis, symbolic data analysis, distributional data analysis. She has supervised numerous PhD theses in Statistics and Machine Learning. She is a member of the Doctoral College in Statistical and Social Sciences at the University of Naples 'Federico II'. She has been a member of doctoral and DHR committees at foreign universities (Lyon 2, Orleans, Paris IX Dauphine, Sorbonne Pantheon, Nantes, Montpellier, Paris 13, Cadi Ayyad, Marrakesh). She is the author of more than 180 scientific contributions, including articles, conference proceedings and book chapters.

Paola Cerchiello - Vice Coordinator

Paola Cerchiello is full Professor of Statistics at the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Pavia. She teaches Machine Learning and Big Data Analysis within the Master Degree in International Business and Management (MIBE) at Unipv, she is also Senior Data Scientist at Stats Lab where she carries out research and consulting projects for leading institutions such as the European Union, the Italian Ministry of Research, the Bank of Italy. Her research activity is mainly devoted to the study of statistical models for unstructured and complex data in economics and finance. From an applied viewpoint, she focuses on text data analysis, systemic risk, reputational risk, initial coin offerings, cyber risk, sentiment analysis and deep learning.

Antonella Plaia

Antonella Plaia is full professor of Statistics at the Department of Economics, Business and Statistics of the University of Palermo. She has been the coordinator of the bachelor's and master's degrees in Statistics at the University of Palermo. The main research fields are Multivariate Data Analysis, Ensemble methods for Classification, Data Mining of large-scale data, and Functional Data Analysis. Currently, she works especially on Textual Data Analysis and Preference data. She has been a supervisor of many PhD theses at the Doctorate in Economics and Statistics and a tutor of post-doc at the University of Palermo. She has been a referee of PhD and master theses at Italian and foreign Universities.

Silvia Salini

Silvia Salini is associate professor of Statistics at Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods of the University of Milan. She is involved in the research activities at DSRS (Data Science Research Centre) of the University of Milan. She is the director of the two-years master’s degree in Data Science for Economics of the University of Milan. She has participated in numerous national and international research projects across different fields, her main research interests focus on statistical models for social science, multivariate statistics, statistical learning methods, robust statistics, and scientometrics.

Leonardo Egidi

Leonardo Egidi is assistant professor of Statistics at Department of Economics, Business, Mathematics, and Statistics of the University of Trieste. His main research areas cover theoretical and applied Bayesian statistics, with a particular focus on robust prior elicitation and hierarchical models, sports modelling and clustering methods. He is a proficient R package developer -pivmet, footBayes, clc- and a Stan user. He has open collaborations with Italian and foreign institutions, such as Athens University of Economics and Buisiness (AUEB), Columbia University, University of Pavia, Cattolica University of Milan. He teaches master-level and phd-level courses, and he is a member of the ADSAI PhD college (University of Trieste).
